Cattle Ear Holding
Gallagher NLIS tags combine modern technology with basic common sense. Before any Gallagher NLIS tag product is released onto the market an extensive development program is conducted, which can take several years! Users and professionals are consulted to consider their particular demands of the system in question and laboratory and field tests carried out. Gallagher customers agree that the professional modern structure of Gallagher, combined with good old fashioned person to person service is not equalised anywhere else in the identification industry.
Best Tagging Practice:
Gallagher NLIS 'Supertag' id tags are made in Australia to the very highest standards but successful identification is also achieved by paying careful attention to where and how an eartag is applied. With due care and attention retention rates can be increased considerably. We recommend a "Best Tagging Practice".
Store unused NLIS tags in a clean dry container and away from frost. Make sure that you or your operator is properly trained and confident in the application of eartags. Make sure that you are using the correct applicator for the tag you are applying. Fit in cool weather (where possible) to minimise possible infection and ensure the animal is suitably restrained before tagging. Apply tags under hygienic conditions. The operator’s hands, the ear, the tag and the applicators should be clean. Disinfect if necessary using an appropriate solution.
